There are many strange cultures in the world that are difficult to grasp but nevertheless interesting enough to pique the attention of others in their conflict.

The Yanomami tribe, also known as Yanam or Senema in South America, is found in Venezuela and parts of Brazil. This tribe is not easily swayed by modernization or westernization, preferring to maintain their culture.
Endocannibalism is a strange burial ceremony similar to cannibalism practiced by this tribe. The practice of consuming the flesh of a deceased member of the same community, tribe, or culture is known as endocannibalism.

The Yanomami are a local group that believe that after the body dies, the soul must be protected. They think that the soul can only properly rest and transition once the body has been burned and eaten by living kin.

Unlike the traditional internment process, this native Indian tribe burns the body of the deceased and paints their faces with the filth from the burnt body. They sing and cry to show their grief over the death of a family member.

In the second step of the burial, they collect the bones left over from the burning of the dead and grind them into powder, which they mix with the ashes from the burned bodies.
They blend this with banana, which is used to produce banana soup, a local delicacy popular among this tribe, and serve it to everyone.

They believe that only by completing this funeral ceremony can the soul find eternal rest.
However, if an enemy murders a relative or a village member, only the women eat the ashes and then exact a type of revenge on the perpetrators; however, the ceremony is performed on the same night the villagers are to exact revenge through probably a raid on the enemy land.
