The burn spots on the iron's soleplate appear difficult to remove, however they are readily removed with one of the following recipes.

Toothpaste
Cover the iron's cold plate with non-gel toothpaste and leave it like this for 2-3 minutes. Wipe the surface with a soft cotton towel in gently circular motions to polish it. Rinse the toothpaste with water. Turn the iron to its highest setting and press the steam button to remove any toothpaste residue that has accumulated in the steam vents.

If there are mineral deposits in the steam vents, carefully wipe the apertures with a cotton bud dipped in a thick paste of baking soda and water. To remove the paste remnants, rinse with water and use steam.

Sea water or salty water

Set the iron to the highest setting. Place a dry cotton rag on the ironing board and liberally sprinkle it with sea salt. Iron a few times onto the salt till the scorched is removed.

Baking Soda
Make a thick paste with 3 tablespoons soda bicarbonate and 1 tablespoon water. Cover the cool iron's plate with the mixture. Scrub the spots gently with a clean towel or cotton rag. There would be no evidence of the scorched spot after this "peeling mask" procedure.

Dishwashing detergent
Try this procedure if you don't want to risk using abrasive ingredients like salt or baking soda. In a big basin of warm water, dissolve 2 tablespoons dishwashing liquid. Place an old towel or cloth in a plastic basin and soak it in the mixture. Place your iron on a moist towel and soak it for a couple of hours. Wipe away the remains on the metal plate with a sponge.
