BoG warn Ghanaians about these illegal loan apps.

According to the central bank, this was against the 2016 Banks and Specialized Deposit-Taking Institutions Act (Act 930).

Ghanaians have been forewarned by the Bank of Ghana (BoG) not to use certain online loan applications. The BoG claims that the apps, which number ninety-seven (97), are not authorized. Ghanaians should exercise caution while dealing with the listed companies, the central bank warned in a statement distributed to the media.

According to a statement from the Central Bank, "The Bank of Ghana emphasized that the acts of these organizations considerably violate customer data and privacy regulations as well as consumer protection requirements and norms with adverse effects on the integrity and wellbeing of their patrons." Before conducting any business with an institution, the general public has been recommended to visit the Bank's website to view the approved list of licensed institutions.
