Why you shouldn't eat right before bed time

Dangers of Eating Right Before Bed
Health professionals advise against having a substantial meal right before bed. Large meals eaten so close to bedtime can have an impact on digestion and sleep quality. Over time, eating the majority of one's daily food intake in the evening can also result in obesity.
Heartburn, acid reflux, and gastroesophageal reflux
GER, also known as acid reflux or acid indigestion, is associated with eating too close to bedtime. GER happens when the stomach's contents travel back up the esophagus. The tube that transports food from the mouth to the stomach is called the esophagus. The lower esophageal sphincter, or LES, is a group of muscles that separates the esophagus from the stomach. The esophagus may itch from the stomach contents returning if the LES does not shut properly. Following a meal, it's possible for the stomach's contents to press on the LES and results in acid reflux.

Obesity
Obesity and late-night eating have a complex relationship. While evidence indicates that eating later in the day may raise the risk of obesity, the types of food consumed and amount sizes may have a substantial impact.
A target number of calories for an adult should be consumed each day, depending on their age, degree of activity, and other personal considerations. A person may be at risk for weight gain and obesity if they have a meal or snack late at night that pushes their calorie consumption above the recommended level. However, consuming a little, nutritious snack at night can be advantageous to one's health.
Importantly, factors other than food intake have an impact on the development of obesity. These include various medical issues, stress, prescription drugs, fitness routines, and genetics.
How soon should you stop eating before bed?
Despite varying estimations, the majority of specialists advise eating a meal two to four hours before night. Meals should be consumed well before bedtime to allow for healthy digestion. The incidence of GER symptoms and restless sleep is also decreased by waiting after eating before going to bed.
There is a dearth of research on the ideal time for an evening snack. Experts advise having a snack right before bed for persons who are regulating their blood sugar. The ideal time for a snack might vary from person to person and is dependent on the cuisine.
