Gunshots have been heard in Tamale as armed Police personnel clash with Lamashegu youth in the Tamale Metropolis.
According to eyewitnesses, the chaos started after a police patrol team allegedly shot a young man driving a white Toyota Camry with a DV number plate who speed off after the police stopped him.
The young man dashed into the Lamashe-Naa’s palace to avoid being apprehended by security personnel. That was when the police personnel hit him with a bullet.
According to the youth, the act was disrespectful to the traditional authority, hence their agitations.
Reports say the Police fired several shots and used hot water to disperse the agitating youth.
Meanwhile, a journalist has been attacked by the angry youth for filming the incident.
According to sources, his phone has been seized even though he has been released after being beaten to a pulp.
A team of soldiers joined forces with the Police to bring the situation under control.
